Benevolence Fund of St. Benedict's Church
Donation protected
I am the Rev. Robert W. Hart Jr. I keep this campaign open and add updates when I receive requests for help from poor individuals and families who call the church, or who call me directly in my role as a priest in the church, because they find themselves in need of immediate assistance. Such calls include requests for help with turn-off notices for water bills and electric bills, or a need for food when a family has nothing to eat, or a need for medicine. I, the Rector of Saint Benedict’s Anglican Church, use this fundraiser only for the purposes described here. My relationship with the people I raise money for is that of a friend and priest. I use properly recorded means (i.e. certified checks or electronic transfers, all of which produce records) to distribute the money directly to the people who have asked me to help with the circumstances specifically described in the UPDATES of this Go Fund Me fundraiser, or I directly pay their bills, especially the ones with turn-off notices, on their behalf. This too is recorded by “Confirmation Numbers,” and on the next monthly bill they receive, as well as receipts when applicable. These are poor people who call churches because they fall through the cracks, or they are waiting for the process to be completed for Social Services or the Social Security Administration to approve applications for SSDI or SSI, but face turn-off notices, food shortage, eviction, or an immediate need for medicine. For example, in this month (the time of this writing), June 2025, I am raising money to help two families, and one disabled individual, from being evicted and becoming homeless. Three of the people immediately effected in the two families are children. They need help NOW, not when the system finally (if ever) gets around to providing, which can take up to seven years on average here in North Carolina. When they call a church it is because they have already reached the end of their rope, and their need is immediate. Any money raised that is in excess of the need specified in a most recent update will be refunded or, with your permission (and your consent is implied by making a donation), used for the next person or family in an emergency circumstance as described above. “The poor you have always with you,” so that need will come, if not today, very soon.
