In loving memory of Benelong Carroll.

With great sadness, the Gumbayngirr & Dunghutti community suffered a great loss of a Gagu/Bingayi (Brother) warrior. Over the last few years, Benelong (Ben) suffered his battle with ongoing medical issues such as dialysis and later in life, cancer. On Wednesday 12th Feb 2025, he made his final journey home to Figtree where he passed away into the Dreamtime at 4pm on Dunghutti Country.

Ben was a respected embassador in his own cultural rights across both Gumbaygnirr and Dunghutti Country. Benelong also shared his gifted talents throughout Australia and all around the world. Ben was a unique & talented musician, artist and cultural man. He was person who had left his footprints and his everlasting memories on which he imprinted on everyone he met throughout his journey.

During this difficult and challenging time, the family would like to acknowledge Ben’s life and send him off on his final journey to the Dreamtime. We ask if you can contribute, big or small in helping support, his father Uncle Martin, his wife Deanne, his daughter Renshaya and his two grandsons in easing the financial burden during this hard time.
