I've always wondered why the most kind-hearted people ended up suffering the most but as a strong believer in faith, I know there are still some good souls out there like Mr. and Mrs. James. Vanessa and her husband John are going through difficult times through not fault of their own. With permission from Mrs. James, I started a Go Fund Me account to help with their climbing expenses. Mrs. James and I met in college and she is the epitome of a wonderful wife, mother, friend, and teacher.
My friend's husband posted the following on Saturday and my heart is broken:
" Just wanted to give everyone an update on the James gang. Kinda rough news. Good thing is, it's not a political post!
So, right now we have a ton of health problems. Vanessa has been dealing with heart/fainting issues ever since she was a girl. For years the couldn't find out what was wrong. She has been getting progressively worse the last two years. Last week, we went to a genetic specialist, and she has a degenerative disorder of the heart, Cardio-Valvular Ehlers-Dahnlos Syndrome. She has a PICC line, which is a permanent IV directly to her heart now. She receives fluids nearly everyday, and has a backpack that carries her bag of fluids connected to her heart. She faints getting out of bed, or sometimes just standing still. Her body doesn't regulate her blood pressure or body temperature correctly. The prognosis isn't great, but we are trying to make the best of it.
Myself on the other hand, is doing a bit better. I was diagnosed with Covid back in July. My case wasn't that serious, but for about three days, I couldn't catch my breath. I recovered fine, and went back to work a few weeks later. After I went back to work, I couldn't work for more than 5 minutes without gasping for air. Now, walking up a flight of stairs, has me panting. One day I went to work, and my face started drooping, I developed Bell's Palsey, which is where the right side of my face and neck are paralyzed. I have trouble eating. I have headaches all of the time. My eyes are super sensitive to light right now as well. And I can't return to work, until I get my health issues in check. Before Covid, no major health issues. Now, I have a Cardiologist, Pulmonologist and go to physical therapy three times a week.
This a long post. And it sounds really negative. But it could be worse. Our family is strong. My wife is a bad ass. My kids, who are affected by our health issues daily, are amazing. For them to go through this, on top of Covid separation, is incredible. We want to thank our friends/family members, that help us through these times! We love yall! We would appreciate yall keeping us in your prayers. Thanks for reading."
