Benefiting Dion Benson’s Healing Journey
Shortly after Dion’s 58th birthday on September 18, 2020, he began experiencing abdominal pain and one eyelid mysteriously closing, among other symptoms. Thinking perhaps it might be covid-19, he got tested, but the tests kept coming back negative. After several different exams amid a worsening condition, an MRI finally revealed a two inch tumor on his pancreas, with many other tumors elsewhere including one on his eye that was the cause of his eyelid shutting. The official diagnosis from his doctors in November was Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.
He began a treatment plan of radiation for his eye, and chemotherapy every two weeks to fight the cancer spread. Dion has been unable to work, and has been turned down for any and all state assistance from New Mexico. Now on his fourth round of chemo, which will continue indefinitely at this point, Dion can greatly use the support of family and friends. Contribute what you can, anything and everything is lovingly appreciated. Prayers are also welcome.
Dion is a Navy veteran with multiple deployments to Persian Gulf since ‘87. He has also answered the call to protect and serve in his career in hazardous materials cleanup, including a return to Iraq and Kuwait, responding to the anthrax attacks in Washington, DC and cleaning up the debris field after the explosion of the Space Shuttle Columbia upon reentry in 2003.
Now is the time that he needs our help. Thank you everyone.
