Good friends of ours and some of yours, Tierney and Randy Benesh are struggling to keep their heads above water. Tierney was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2014, they no more then recouped from that and she was diagnosed with ALS in 2017, she was a nurse at Physicians' Clinic at Iowa, and is no longer able to work as her speech is unrecognizable. Her disease has progressed in this short amount of time and she is now on a feeding tube.
Now to make things even worse, her husband Randy began having issues with pain. loss of mobility, numbness and spasms in his back and lower extremities. He was seen by a surgeon in Cedar Rapids, and was immediately sent to the University of Iowa, due to the complexity of the surgery. They diagnosed him with extreme degenerative changes in his entire thoracic spine. He has disc protrusion, stenosis, with spinal cord abnormality and compression. He worked thru mid May when he could no longer pull himself up with the walker to do his job. U of I informed him he will be needing two surgeries, the first surgery was on June 9th, he is now doing physical therapy to hopefully regain his loss of mobility. Once he recoups from this surgery they will schedule the second surgery.
I am reaching out to all of Randy and Tierney's friends or anyone else willing to assist. If we could all just donate a small amount, that could add up to enough to get them thru the next few months of healing without financial stress. Randy has exhausted all of his vacation and he does not have short term disability. As we all know they have done so many things for others. The donations would help for medical insurance, bills, and just day to day expenses. Thank You so much for considering a donation for such a good cause.
