Benefit for Tony Pfeiffer

Everyone knows my Brother, Tony.
Tony has not been feeling much like himself of late. No energy, trouble catching his breath. This has been going on since November. Tony being who he is didn't say anything to anyone didn't really think anything was wrong with him. In January, he went to see a Dr. and at the time was diagnosed with Pneumonia and then again went to see a Dr. and was again told he had pneumonia.

Last week Tony was washing his truck and had become out of breath and it took longer than normal for him to get his heart rate to recover, which is really unusual for Tony, he checked it off as being from pneumonia still. He then had to go to South Texas for work, while he was there he said that he was having a hard time catching his breath. Tony wears an iWatch, his watch had also been giving him alerts that his heart was out of rhythm. Tony again didn't think much of it, until his symptoms worsened. Shonda told him he needed to go to the emergency room. Tony finally reluctantly gave in and went to the emergency room. This was on Saturday, May 2nd.
While in the ER, he was advised that is heart was in Arterial Fabulation and that it appeared that he may have fluid around his heart.
At that time they scheduled him for a scope to be sure that there was not anything else obstructing his arteries that would put him at risk for putting his heart back in rhythm.
We receive a phone call from Tony the following afternoon following the procedure and that the news was not good.
It seems that Tony may not have had pneumonia at all in the months prior. The Dr. advised that a valve in his heart is no longer functioning and is leaking. Meaning that the fluid surrounding his heart and in his lungs if from the valve in his heart. He will now need to have an Aortic Valve replacement surgery and that point his heart was only functioning at 50%. To do this surgery they will have to open his chest completely up.

Tony now as I am writing this is undergoing cardiac catheterization. The doctors what to make sure that there is no other blockage that would require stints or bypass. They want to be sure to get everything while they are there.

UPDATE:
Tony's surgery to repair his Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery has been scheduled for tomorrow, April 5th at 1:00 pm.
He will be in the hospital for approximately 5 days following his surgery.

He is currently in ICU unit at the Mother Francis Heart Hospital in Tyler, Texas.

Tony is an independent contractor, meaning he is self-employed will NOT be able to go back to work for at least 6-8 weeks following surgery. and currently is without any medical insurance.

As many of you well know, Tony would NEVER ask anyone for assistance for anything.

The family, myself, and a few of his friends are asking on his behalf.

We understand times are tough, but any donation would be most helpful.

In the upcoming months, we will also be doing a benefit of some type too. We will keep you updated as we get it planned and have further details.
