On August 20th, 2023 Cam Christiano suffered a stroke at the young age of 14 in front of both his mom and brother. Young, active, seemingly healthy and strong on the outside… all the while, internally facing a massive ticking time bomb his family knew nothing about. Cam is still living with a newly found congenital brain disorder, grey matter heterotopias that can cause more seizures at any given moment and several autoimmune disorders.

Unfortunately, Cam isn’t the only family member going through an immense struggle health-wise right now. Cam’s mom Jen has been facing several autoimmune disorders, chronic cerebral ischemic vasospasms, ischemic colitis, narrowing blood flow to her organs and also suffered a heart attack. Adding to the stress in their circumstances, Jen recently went to the hospital for a medical issue and was administered a CT with contrast but was severely allergic to the dye and went into cardiac arrest. The family was uncertain if she would make it or not, but by the grace of God she is still here with us today.

Jen (mom), Joe (33, son) and Cam (15, son) are living together in a 1-bedroom apartment, which used to be home to just Joe, but following these serious medical complications (and much more), the family is now living together in tight quarters sacrificing all that they can in order to get the health care they desperately need.

Both Cam and Jen have an uphill medical battle ahead of them to search for answers. This involves a lot of travel, out of state pediatric specialists, IV infusions, oxygen therapy, detoxification therapy, genetic testing, additional vitamins and supplements due to deficiencies and diagnoses, potential surgeries, procedures... the majority of which is not covered by insurance! Joe has been doing an immense amount to uphold the family, but as a caregiver it can be very tolling over time and knowing Joe, he wants to give his mom and brother the world! Joe needs a support system too, and that’s where we come in!

I am a longtime friend of the family and speaking from personal experience, as well as having multiple of the same diagnoses as Cam - the situation the Christianos are currently facing will most likely be one of the toughest times in their lives. Imagine feeling as though you had no control over your life day to day, medical bills piling up and not knowing how you'll manage to pay them, doctors hundreds of miles away, internal pain that is invisible to others. It is a tough road and I know all too well how it is to struggle and battle behind closed doors and how difficult it is to ask for help.

This is where WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE, let's rally for the family! We are organizing this fundraiser to help the Christianos with the medical bills that have already piled up, but also in hopes to cover some of their future medical bills. To help with groceries, travel for doctor’s appointments, and anything else that comes up where there is a need!
