Benefit for Our Friend Star

Dear Friends and Ptown Community:

Some of you may know that our friend and longtime Ptown resident, Star, has been going through a health crisis involving an organic, degenerative brain disease.

We are a group of Star’s friends who have been meeting for years to help her with healthcare and financial issues, as her illness progresses. Now, we are appealing to the greater community for help.

Perhaps you were a customer at Star’s restaurant Tofu-A-Go-Go, a fan of her secret peanut sauce, or have seen her on her bike in years past, or at the Pilgrim Bark dog park with her beloved pooch, Azzie. Maybe you own one of her paintings or worked with her at a coffee shop, restaurant, or The US Post Office. Or maybe you don’t know Star at all, but believe in giving to a local in need.

Our goal is to keep Star in her affordable-housing home with her beloved dog for as long as possible, but now our friend is in need of financial support beyond our means.

Recently, Star’s illness has progressed quite a bit, and she requires more help.

Help for Star includesfor a growing number of assistive devices to help with mobility and dexterity. But her greatest need right now is for additional paid caretakers for when the home healthcare agency is unable to send enough aides to assist with her care needs in the afternoon and evening, and for when her care-giving night-time housemate has time off.

Our overall goal is to raise $35,000.00 for 2024. Please give whatever you can to help our wonderful friend in her time of need!
