Kassie's family got the call early Thursday morning that she had been admitted to ICU at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Kassie had a rare condition called Turner Syndrome. This syndrome left Kassie with an array of medical anomalies, in particular her heart. At the very young age of 3 Kassie had her first open heart surgery. Many of her friends and family tell the story about how brave that little 3 year old girl was and how her courage encouraged them to be fearless. After this Kassie would go on to spend many nights in the hospital surrounded by doctors, friends, and family. During every stay she was still that amazing little girl, bold and courageous. She was never afraid because she always knew it would be okay. Kassie knew the true meaning of life, she knew she wasn't given an opportunity here on earth to waste anytime on the negative things in life. She had a unique quality of being able to turn every piece of darkness into a ray of sunshine. Most people never saw her have a bad day or a tear roll down her face. She trusted in God and she knew she was his creation. She loved her family, friends, and Jesus. Kassie had this awkward way of making people laugh in the toughest situations. She was an angel on earth. She beat all the odds that were against her and went out to prove the doctors wrong. She was able to fufill her dream of one day falling in love and getting married. Kyle and Kassie were married on June 13th 2015. She moved to Kansas to start her new life with her husband and stepdaughter. She was living her dream. Despite all the obstacles she made it to her 30th birthday this year and had already lived a life full of compassion and love, a life many aren't able to imagine. When her health problems returned Thursday morning, her family came running to her rescue just as they had done numerous times before. As always her family was terrified and once again everyone was amazed to see her in ICU with a smile on her face, she was unshaken only asking everyone not to worry. She knew she would be okay. She entered surgery Friday morning to fix an anuerysm in her heart, a surgery that was certainly the most complicated one yet. Kassie wanted all her family to know she was okay and that she loved them. She passed away due to the complications during surgery. As her family's lives were shattered and death took its place, the world crumbled around them. They lost the bravest woman they had ever known. We are asking for support for her Husband Kyle who will be left with medical bills, funeral arrangements, and other expenses in the next couple months ahead as he tries to navigate life without his sweet wife. Thank you to all who are able to donate and contribute to Kasandra Hooten Brown and honor her life, she gave so much to this world and we only hope we can merit her memorial in giving back.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
