Benefit for family of Kara Nguyen

Our dear friend Kara (Chynna) Yang Nguyen had been battling with cancer for the past 3 years. She was first diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer and had to undergo a double mastectomy. After multiple surgeries, chemo and radiation treatments, she was cancer free until a month and a half ago when she started having severe headaches. Sadly the cancer had spread to her brain. Even with the news, Kara stayed optimistic as she had so much to live for… Wayne, her husband of 10 years, her 6 children, Thu Thu (18), Keirstyn (10), Kayleigh (8,) Kyndall (5), twins Kamden and Kaleb (3). She knew she had to fight, not just for herself but for her family. She was physically and mentally drained by the time she finished her last round of radiation. She stopped eating and talking. Last Friday morning, Kara complained of back pain so Wayne took her to the emergency room. Within hours, she slipped into a coma due to fluid in the brain and was flown to Methodist of Dallas to their Neuro Intensive Care Unit. She eventually came to after a shunt was implanted in her brain to drain the fluid. Doctors informed Wayne that the cancer had spread throughout her brain and nothing more can be done. She was given just less than 2 weeks to live. Staying true to their characters, they continued to smile as they spent their last moments together. On Wednesday, she lost all feelings in her legs then it progressed to her arms by Thursday. At 12:35 PM Friday afternoon (7/27/18) Kara lost her battle with cancer. We are devastated and heartbroken for Wayne and the children.

Wayne and Kara were high school sweethearts. They fell in love young but grew apart. A little older and wiser, they found their way back to each other. Kara had always loved the idea of having a big family. They were parents to 4 beautiful girls when they decided to try for a boy and something amazing happened - they were blessed with twins, a boy and a girl! Their family was complete. Kara was a devoted mother and wife who always put her family before herself. She taught her children to be self-sufficient, as if she was subconsciously preparing them for what’s to come. She was put on this earth only for a short period of time but had made a huge impact on so many people. The world has lost a beautiful soul but more than that, 6 children have lost their loving mother, and a husband has lost his soulmate. We were lucky enough to have crossed paths with her and we can’t even imagine what Wayne and the kids are going through right now. We are hoping to raise some money to help Wayne and the kids during this difficult time. This fund is set up to help the family with memorial costs, hospital bills, and to adjust to life without Kara.
