Dorothy reached out to me in regards to financial issues she is having due to illnesses related to 9/11 and also taking on the responsibility of her mothers health care due to alzheimers. Dorothy was the sole provider for all the medical attention that her mother needed in which Dorothy had to take a pension loan for. Before her mother passed away, Dorothy had lost not only one but two of her half brothers and paid for both of their funeral arrangements. Dorothy's mother also passed away and the funeral arrangements landed on her once again. Two years after Dorothy retired she was forced to claim Bankruptcy because of everything she had went through. Dorothy had tried to re-establish her credit but because of the bankruptcy her interest rates were very high. Things were still going wrong for her and because her her not having enough money she was using her credit cards more than she wanted to for example cars needing mechanical work so she was able to make doctors appointments and to be able to get from point A to point B. Dorothy was also responsible for taking care of her cousin who had 3 open heart surgeries which didnt help with what she has been going through. Dorothy has numerous illnesses from 9/11 which she has been going to personal doctors as well as the World Trade Health center in Stonybrook. Dorothy possibly has stomach or colon cancer she also tumors on her adrenal glands on her kidneys. Dorothy is taking a bunch of different medications and also suffers from panic attacks from PTSD. Because of everything that she has been going through in the last 15 years Dorothy reached her breaking point and made some mistakes. Dorothy has helped alot of people in her personal life and in the community she patrolled. She is now left dealing with the financial difficulties as well as her own health. As some of you may or may not know Dorothy has done patrol for 20 years in the 77 precinct and she is now reaching out to friends and former colleagues for our help. She has no family and is desperate to get her feet on the ground again. Anything you can do to help Dorothy would appreciate it. She wishes that everyone stay safe and if you were any part of 9/11 to get checked out ASAP. She also would like everyone to be grateful for their family and friends because being alone is tough.
