Benders on Blades- Prostate Cancer Awareness
Father/son, both D3 ice hockey players will roller blade 150 miles from NY to Wilkes-Barre, PA to raise money for prostate cancer awareness and research.
Eric is a graduate student/athlete at King's College and Florian, a prostate cancer survivor. They call themselves, "Benders on Blades".
Cancer has affected many people especially during the ongoing Covid pandemic. Florian, was diagnosed with advanced PCA in January 2020. It was quite a shock for him and his family. He fully understands that awareness, early testing and detection is key to saving lives. Many cancers have been put on the back burner as awareness and research funding has slowed. This includes the #2 cancer killer in men. So, we have decided to take action and blade for the 1 in 8 men who will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. The "Benders on Blades" will wheel from NY to King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA from September 11-12th, to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer.
Proceeds will go to ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer, a non profit organization for prostate cancer and help fund custom team jersey's for the upcoming King's College men's ice hockey "Fight for Cancer" game slated in November. Any donation is most helpful and appreciated during the Covid pandemic.
