Virgilio "Benny" Bencosme joined the NYPD in July of 2003. He started his career in the 47pct walking a foot-post, like most rookies. By 2004 he was doing Midnight patrol in the 40 precinct. He quickly learned the job and was always willing to help other cops.
Benny built a reputation for hard work and dedication to his fellow officers and in 2008 he was voted in as a PBA Delegate. He served the men and women of the 40th precinct honorably for seven years until his forced retirement in October of 2015.
The Summons Scandal took a toll on hundreds of officers through lost vacation days, fines, and probation. But some paid a much higher price, Officer Bencosme lost his job and has to wait eight years for his vested pension. Please reach out and help our brother in his time of need. We are a family and have to look out for each other.
