As many of you are aware, Ben Polson recently lost his life while in the line of duty. He was not only a friend but also played a vital role in helping the St. Louis community. The St.Louis community has come together over the last few weeks to remember his life. So, I am asking us to come together once again and help by donating to The Backstoppers organization.
The BackStoppers supports families of fallen heroes by paying off all debt, providing health and dental insurance, reimbursing for out-of-pocket medical expenses, covering tuition and educational costs from daycare through university, and assisting with miscellaneous extraordinary expenses.
The Backstoppers support approximately 90 families with 70 dependent children
Supported over 180 families since 1959
Provides roughly $2.5 million in assistance annually
The goal has been set at $10,000. According to their website, "The BackStoppers’ assistance is immediate and ongoing. Upon the death of a police officer, firefighter, publicly-funded paramedic, or EMT, his or her family receives a check for $10,000 from The BackStoppers with the assurance of further help."
The goal here is to replenish this amount so that this organization can continue to assist other families for many years to come!
