On July 5th, 2023 at around 9pm our son, Benjamin Miner, from Beach Lake PA was hit on his motorcycle going home on 191 outside Honesdale by a car. He is a former graduate of Honesdale High school 2020.
Our son was life flighted to a level 2 trauma center at Geisinger CMC on 7/5/23 with life threatening injuries. He had and continues to struggle with the multiple injuries from the collision and the recovery of them.
Since his admission he has undergone 14 surgical procedures in 4 weeks. He is in chronic pain, fighting multiple infections, and trying to heal from life threatening wounds caused by this accident. He has at least 2 more surgeries that will have to be done in the future within the next 4-12 months. He is now in a rehabilitation facility for Physical therapy to aid in his recovery efforts and will be unable to work for at least 15 months.
Bills are starting to come in and he has been unable to work at either of his two jobs. He will not be able to work in the near future, use his CDL license and In addition to this, his truck loan company refused to do any accommodations or a hardship request and we can not afford the payments.
This has been a life altering experience for all of us. As parents our lives and work have also been put on hold in order to care for and advocate for our son and his care. Any help at all to aid with expenses and these life altering changes would be greatly appreciated.
Why we need your help and what all funds will go toward:
-He will need to cover medical expenses in the present and future that are not covered by insurance. Including ambulance bills, surgical procedures, rehabilitation facilities, and etc. For example the life flight bill is over $35,000 and the ambulance was over $6,000 alone. We haven't even received the hospital bills yet for his stay and procedures for over 6 weeks.
-We will need specialized equipment and accommodations that our home does not have, including ramps and handicap accessible, furniture and devices.
-He will need to sell his truck or pay it off ASAP since the dealership and loan company refused to help and this can affect his credit. It is a 2020 Chevy Silverado 8 Cylinder and is listed on Facebook marketplace for the loan amount with the extended warranty and tow package.
