On February 10th Ben went in for ACL reconstruction surgery & meniscus repair.
After a few days of extreme pain, a visit to the ER discovered that a staph infection was present.
Very quickly the Staph infection progressed to MRSA.
Ben has been in the hospital for the past 9 days and during this time he has had an additional three surgeries.
As of now, it is unclear of his discharge date is as his battle for wellness and recovery from the infection continues.
Once he leaves the hospital there will be extensive medical care and IV antibiotics for weeks to come.
Ben lives his life inspiring and helping push us to achieve our goals physically and mentally through strength training, fighting and self-defense training. These skills allow many a higher level of living, when we feel good and strong everything else is better. Ben shows up for all of us, without question!
Ben and his wife, Charlotte have opened a gym BUT that is not what it is, they have created a community, a safe place and at its core a family. A place to become the best version of you!
It doesn't matter if you are just starting, in there for fun and some fitness or one of the professional athletes that train at SouthSide Combat Academy you are treated with respect and kindness.
During this time the medical bills will begin to come in and the living expenses that come along with this situation can be very stressful so please consider helping out with what you can so that Ben and Charlotte can focus on their health and the full recovery of Ben.
We need him back at the gym, fully healed!
UPDATE
Yeah he’s healing and at home - praise!
The infection is under control.
He will continue on iv antibiotics for the next month.
