Ben Johns Support Fund

As most of you know on Sunday 9th June 2019 my son Ben went from standing in my living room to paralysed in 3 hours, he had a spinal abscess which was crushing his spinal cord, this has left Ben with a complete paralysis from T6 down and he is now in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, This life changing event has been a complete shock and not something he could have prevented, Ben is 29, Married to his beautiful wife Amy and they have a gorgeous 1 year old daughter called Iris, the impact on their life has been awful but they are overcoming all the challenges and staying strong together. This has not been easy as Ben is currently in Salisbury Spinal Unit learning skills to help him adjust to life in a wheelchair, he has been there since 2nd July after a 4 week stay at Derriford in Plymouth, Amy travels every week to see Ben, the costs of this with accommodation and food has cost a huge amount and she has only been able to find this by continuing to work and with help from family and friends. Our aim is to help Ben to come back to Plymouth to be closer to his wife, daughter and family, he has missed the last 7 months watching his daughter developed and grow, not only do we want to get Ben home but once home his little family have no where to live, we are hoping that the council will be able to provide an accessible home to bring his family back together, once they have their home there will be so many pieces of equipment that Ben will need for everyday living, some will be provided but most will have to be bought, he would love to have an electric wheelchair and an adjustable marital bed along with lots of other things that will make his life easier, even a little break away for him , Amy and Iris would be wonderful for them to re bond together, if anyone can help with a donation, small or large I know it would mean the world to Ben to be able return to living with is family
