There are no words to express the awful news of Ben’s sudden diagnosis of stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. The Gracious and larger than life light that Ben brings to each of our lives feels dimmer already. At 58 years young, Ben’s long awaited hip surgery offered bright prospects, and a second chance at having a pain free life. Unexpected abnormalities on a scan quickly brought darkness to the anticipated bright days. The mass has quickly grown and turned into stage IV Pancreatic Cancer all too suddenly. Anyone who knows Ben knows he is always the first one to step up and help anyone in need. Ben has had such an impact on all of our lives in one way or another. He is the first one to give to anyone unconditionally with little to no thought of the impact it could have on his own financial misfortunes.

Many of you are aware that after getting through Covid and waiting over 2 years to get a double hip replacement, Ben finally received his left hip replacement surgery and was going through rehabilitation when his checkup scans came up irregular. Within less than a month, Ben was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. Recent news has revealed to us that Ben will begin comfort care immediately and was not considered for any other option.

The financial burdens that news of this caliber brings, has put stress and uncertainty in the Hernandez families lives. Looming bills are not what loved ones should have to worry about when their loved ones time here is so uncertain.
