Just as a disclaimer, this is a surprise blessing for Ben and Carmen, they don’t know we are doing this and have nothing to do with it - Ben and Carmen are on sabbatical (as Ben is the missions pastor at their church), and they started it out by visiting their old mission field in Malawi, Africa. From there, they went to Greece, and soon after Carmen began to feel ill. She declined rapidly and Ben had to call an ambulance to transport her to the hospital as she was not conscious. They admitted her to the ICU in Athens, where she was diagnosed with a severe, fast moving malaria that attacks your organs. It had attacked her liver and kidneys to the point that it was life-threatening. Because Carmen is still in the ICU, Ben changed travel plans and had to find new lodging and will have to find new plane tickets home. They will be in Athens for an undetermined amount of time. As of right now, all the malaria parasites are dead in her bloodstream, but she is still dealing with recovering from kidney and liver infections. They only have a small idea of the road ahead for what her recovery will look like. Your prayers continue to be a great blessing to Ben and Carmen. If you feel so lead, financial support would also be of help in covering the unexpected expenses. We thank you so much for all your love, prayers, and support.
