Ben Bynum’s Journey to Better Living

Donation protected

Hello everyone,

Ben is my younger brother. For those of you who don’t know Ben, he’s a gone through a heck of a journey and he’s not even 30 yet.

When he was 13 he was a hit by a car and this is where the journey and story begins

I’m happy he had, and still has, his friends by his side. After almost a year he was able to walk again.

I remember taking this photo when I saw him getting around with the wheelchair one day..

But alas, this wasn’t the end of the journey like we thought.

Years later it seemed to happen over night, around 2016 he ended up getting another emergency surgery after a bowel blockage was found caused from scar tissue building over the years. He was then in the hospital for about a month after this.

Things ever since then have been seeming to come in waves up and down… Sometimes he can’t eat without it hurting or things functioning right… but then other times it will be ok. But it seemed like things were going in the right direction.

Things took a hard turn after our family vacation we recently had.

He was admitted for about a week but after MANY tests, they didn’t find anything.. so here he is discharged with no diagnosis.

He has gone to several ERs since when the pain has flared up, but they keep discharging him. It’s been a game of fighting with this healthcare system. Waiting to see specialists, talk to the right doctor, not getting accepted because of insurance, no beds as they seem to be priority to covid patients.

My brother being in a constant state of pain, and at times unbearable.

Have you ever had your body hurt and just know something isn’t right? Or had an extreme GI pain like a gallstone pass? Now can you imagine living in this state for over a month without our healthcare helping?

I want to see relief. I pray. I feel helpless.

He’s an amazing uncle and I just keep praying he’ll find the reason for this pain and be able to live a happy, healthy life.

He has lost many hours of work but co-pays and bills don't stop. I am hopeful answers will be found soon. But if you're able to help out my brother/ your friend/ your family member... I am sure he'd appreciate it to have one less stress to get him through this.

Thank you everyone.
