Our good friend Ben has always been a healthy, fit and highly active young man. Recently, while on holidays with his wife Zerlene and two young kids, Ben suffered a severe life-threatening infection.

After visiting friends and relatives in Australia, Ben and his family were making their way back to the UK, where they have been based for the past few years. During their stop over in Singapore, Ben suddenly became extremely unwell, to the point of being hospitalised with life-threatening septic shock and multi-organ failure. More than a week in ICU and multiple surgeries later, Ben's condition has stabilised, but he remains in hospital and it is not yet known how long it will be before he will be fit enough to travel back home.

While the kids have returned with family to school in England, Zerlene remains in Singapore with Ben, both unable to work, so that he can be supported as he begins his long journey to recovery.

Unfortunately, being in a foreign country with no health cover, massive medical bills are accumulating, adding a significant financial strain to the stress of the sudden and dramatic health scare.

All funds donated will be used to cover Ben's medical costs in Singapore and support Zerlene as she remains there to care for him.
