Ben and Emily Horne - Everything falls into place..

Hi, my name is Olivia. If we've never met, pretend you're seeing a big bright smile and getting the warmest hug. It's not by accident that we get to meet today, everything falls into place!

On April 11, 2024, our family experienced "the phone call" that you never want to receive. Ben (who is the amazing husband to my sister, Emily) was injured at work and was being air lifted to a trauma center in Orlando, FL. All we knew is that he was injured terribly and we needed to move quickly. Fear would sweep in for most families, but ours is grounded in the supernatural peace that only comes from Jesus, so we jumped into action praying our God would begin His miraculous work for Ben.

Ben is many things. A loving and loyal husband of 20 years to Emily, incredible Father to his son William (9), a treasured part of his family, a loyal friend to countless people, a worship pastor devoted to experiencing God's presence here on earth, and the hardest worker that you'll ever meet. On Sunday's you'll find him behind a keyboard and microphone, playing the most beautiful worship songs and singing along side Emily. Every other day you'll find him in the Florida sun, faithfully working to build beautiful additions to people's homes all across central Florida. Those classic screen enclosures that we all enjoy in Florida - Ben brings them from a pile of materials of wood and metal and screen, to beautiful enclosures that countless families enjoy. Something he's proud of (and so are we).

Ben was working on Thursday as he normally does. Undoubtedly whistling a tune and working away when he fell from a ladder (estimate of 20 feet) into an empty swimming pool. Thankfully, the home owner found him and called 911 and the incredible response to quickly rescue him and bring him to the trauma center was truly awesome. Sparing the details that would make many of our stomachs turn, Ben was found to have multiple areas of bleeding on his brain, several skull fractures including his right temple and right orbit, multiple areas broken in his right shoulder and scapula, and large areas of contusions on both of his lungs. For the first 12 hours in the trauma ICU we would experience many unknowns of Ben's course as his neurological function remained poor and the team prepared us that they would likely need to perform surgery to help the bleeding and swelling his brain was experiencing. The medical team exercising wisdom that we know comes from God, and we exercised our faith - asking God for the miraculous. Many of you reading these words are the ones who prayed those exact prayers and for that we are forever grateful.

Today, I write these paragraphs but if you could imagine me talking I would be shouting "God still performs miracles!!!" Ben has astonished his entire medical team with the turn around he's made. Within 24 hours he went from "we don't know what his neurological function is going to be" to "we can't believe how great he is doing!" There's nothing better than a medical team experiencing a miracle right before them. All credit and fame to Jesus!!

Ben's prognosis is fantastic, neurologically intact and doing well. He remains in ICU but making great strides to continue improving. As of today he will likely be in the hospital for a prolonged period and need to stay in inpatient rehab following his discharge from the hospital. We know the journey of his recovery is going to be long, probably months (slow and steady wins the race) and during this time in the hospital, rehab, and then home his family will still need so much support. We ask that our friends and family (and beyond) prayerfully consider extending generosity to them through a donation that will cover not only inevitable medical expenses, but covering "life" that still goes on.

On behalf of Ben and Emily, we are grateful for your prayers, your support, and your generosity. The kindness of God is never more evident than when people quite simply, love people. Thank you for loving Ben.
