Ben Amberg's World Triathlon Championship Page
Ben Amberg is a current PhD and medical student at the The Ritchie Centre, Hudson Institute of Medical Research and Monash University. On top of that, he has also very recently qualified to represent Australia at the 2019 Age Group World Triathlon Championships.
Qualification takes a full 12 months. Each year around 10 olympic distance triathlons are held around the country which allow you to accumulate points to qualify for the Australian world championship team. He raced in Yarrawonga (NSW) in August, finishing 5th, Victor Harbour (SA) finishing 1st and St Kilda (VIC), finishing 3rd.
On the First of September Ben will be racing in Lausanne Switzerland against the top athletes in his age group from around the world.
This is no small feat. It is with great dedication and sacrifice Ben has made it to this moment. While, triathlon Australia partially fund the trip for athletes, participants have to financially support themselves for most of it.
