Beloved Jersey City Mom passes away unexpectedly

Amrita Ghosh, she was unique, any words we choose to describe this warm, beautiful, generous girl, would not suffice. She was a secret superwoman, someone who would easily embrace a stranger, love and hold you in her heart even when her own heart was hurting, fill others’ lives with laughter and silliness, put others' contentment and happiness over her own, and push through to help everyone find the courage to follow their heart as she did. An avid photographer, an outstanding baker, a beautiful dancer, and a stand-out artist and singer, she was truly Jersey City’s disco-dancing nightingale.

On 1st March Amrita’s family fell apart when she suffered a cardiac attack after her dance practice. She fought for 5 days in coma before departing from this world on March 6th, just a day prior to her favorite festival, Holi. She has left behind a sensitive and vulnerable 10-year-old son to whom she was a best friend and mentor, a loving and heartbroken husband for whom she was truly a rock, parents and brother in India

who thought the world of her and friends whom she showered with love!

Amrita – Amrita means the drink of the gods that bestows immortality, and she has left us with her immortal spirit. Our dearest Amrita cannot be mourned but celebrated. As Amrita’s family tries to find a way back from the insufferable void left by Amrita’s untimely departure, we are hoping to support the family with several family expenses - travel, last rites, her child’s security, and many unexpected expenses. Her loved ones would appreciate whatever you can happily contribute, but beyond the financial assistance, it would also lend solidarity to the family and tell them how many lives Amrita may have directly and indirectly touched.
