Beloved husband, father of four & coach dies at age 47

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Chris Kuykendall, age 47, from a massive heart attack on June 12, 2020. Chris had been out at a family deer lease in Alice, Texas doing a little property maintenance with his 11 year old son Landry when he began to feel faint. With his son by his side, he flickered in and out of consciousness and was eventually able to advise Landry to call 911. Due to the remote location, some time passed before paramedics were able to get to them and provide emergency care, but it was too late. Chris left behind Cassie his wife of 20 years, and four children Tyler age 27, Josh age 17, Carlee age 14 and Landry.

Chris was charismatic and friendly as he served in his many coaching roles throughout the State of Texas. He was unmistakable on the football field, the basketball court, by the track and in the community. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Education from Sul Ross University and attended Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas for his undergraduate degree. He had aspired to go for his Doctorate at some point in the future. He loved to fish and spend time with his family.

Our hearts cannot begin to process the strength that will be required of Cassie as she navigates the unknown as a widow and single mother of three school-aged children and one adult stepson. How will his four children adjust to life without their Dad? What other considerations normal to daily life will come up for them in the coming year(s)?

Financial contributions would be helpful to lessen funeral expenses and lengthen time-off from work. It would be a blessing if Cassie had time to process her grief with less financial strain, allowing her to heal and support her children in the unique ways they will require to navigate the uncharted waters ahead without Dad. It’s hard to imagine what they will be going through. We trust that God has a plan for Cassie, Tyler, Josh, Carlee and Landry and will be there with them throughout this journey.

Please consider donating to help support the Kuykendall family while navigating this tremendous loss. It is unfathomable what details may be necessary to help them through this, and as we write this request words are hard to find.

Submitted with deepest gratitude,

Longtime friends of Chris, Cassie & Family
