Melissa is the most wonderful woman, single mother of two, who grooms dogs for a living in our beautiful Oakmont Village. She commutes an hour and a half each way every day to conduct her business in our area. Melissa's town and the surrounding areas were tormented by the Lake County fires in the summer of 2015, at which time her family was evacuated from her home. This winter, our California floods have wreaked havoc on her Clear Lake area partially due to the loss of so many trees in the fires. Twice recently, Melissa has had her rental home flooded, and now she is living in a hotel, and needs to find a new place to live. She works so hard, and we'd like to see her life get a little brighter with help from others!
We hope to raise funds to help her relocate to a new residence or to help buy a used travel trailer, and to help her purchase necessities for her and for her daughters, that were lost in these floods. It was only after I convinced her to allow us and others to help, that she told me this in an e-mail: "We are ok on clothes, but it's the quick evacuation and hotel stays that have drained my savings. I'm literally going broke.
I would be happy with a used travel trailer so I could keep my dogs, have somewhere to eat and sleep to rebuild my savings. This is causing me to lose everything day by day." To make things worse, she was unable to retrieve her rental deposit since this was a "natural disaster."
In her business, Melissa goes above and beyond the call of duty, always stretching her time and resources to meet our desires for our pets and our schedules. She is so caring and loving with the animals, and does a brilliant job with them. I hope we find it in our hearts to help, a little or a lot, whatever you can do, to show her that we care about her and her girls while they're passing through difficult times. Even through all this, Melissa keeps a smile on her face, and is still resistant to accepting our help, but, as I told her, there are times when you need to allow others to show they care.
