Help Me Bring Occupational Therapy to Children in Need – And Train the Next Generation of Therapists
Hello! My name is Deidra Sowell, and I am on a mission to further my education through Belmont University’s Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) Bridge Program—so I can continue making a difference in the lives of children who need it most.

For the past 10 years, I’ve worked as a pediatric Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), helping children overcome challenges and reach their fullest potential through therapeutic play, movement, and skill-building. But now, I’m ready to take the next step: becoming a licensed Occupational Therapist, expanding my ability to serve, and eventually becoming a professor to train the next generation of clinicians.

Why This Matters
I live and work near Splendora, Texas, right on the edge of what many call a “therapy desert”—an area where families struggle to access pediatric therapy services because of long waitlists, lack of local providers, or financial barriers. By advancing my degree, I will be better equipped to provide comprehensive care to underserved children in my community—and to develop programs that reach even more families in need.

But my mission doesn’t stop there. I dream of one day teaching future occupational therapists, passing on my decade of hands-on experience and deep love for this work. I want to empower future clinicians to serve with excellence, compassion, and creativity—ensuring every child has a chance to thrive.

The Challenge
While I plan to continue working throughout this program to support my household, the financial burden of tuition is immense. As an adult learner returning to school while balancing work and family responsibilities, I’m doing everything I can—but I cannot do it alone.

This is where I humbly ask for your help.

Your donation will go directly toward:
✅ Tuition and academic fees at Belmont University’s MSOT Bridge Program
✅ Required books, supplies, and clinical materials
✅ Travel and lodging for required on campus classes

Every dollar you contribute is an investment in the future of the children I serve—and the students I will teach.

Why Give?
When you support me, you’re not just helping one person get a degree. You’re helping:
✨ Children in underserved communities gain access to life-changing therapy
✨ A clinician grow into a leader and educator for the next generation
✨ A vision of compassionate, accessible care for all become reality

No gift is too small—every bit brings me closer to this dream. Even if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page with your friends, family, and networks.

Thank you for believing in me, in the power of education, and in the potential of every child. Together, we can create ripples of hope, healing, and opportunity.
