Bell’s Bilateral TPLO Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ashley and I’m Bell’s mom! Recently we discovered my sweet girl has torn both CCLs (dog equivalent of our ACLs). After discussing with my vet and their surgeon, a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) procedure was recommend as the best treatment. In a TPLO the surgeon cuts down part of the dogs tibia and replaces it with a metal bracket so she is able to walk, run and play normally. Unfortunately homegirl did a number on her legs and needs the procedure on both of them. Belly is a very active dog and loves running, jumping and playing, so I know the best thing to do for her would be to opt for the surgery, which will hopefully give her the best chance at getting her full motion and comfort back.
The vet recommended a bilateral surgery so she can have one recovery rather than operating on each leg separately. The bilateral surgery is also cheaper in the long run as she only needs to be put under once. I am lucky to have my mom local to help with recovery as it’s going to be extremely rough on everyone involved. Healing time will be at least 12 weeks and a majority of those will involve no jumping, running, playing, fetching, or really anything that she finds fun. Surgery will be the first step to a long journey towards her recovery.
Her surgery is scheduled for January 10th and I just don’t see how i’ll be able to swing this huge unexpected expense without a little help. If you have the means and can donate a few dollars I’ll be forever grateful. Many of you know Bells is my entire life and i’m absolutely shattered she’s in so much pain. I hate asking for help but that’s how badly I want my little superstars legs fixed! Truly, any amount would make such a big difference and my little family would be so grateful for any help to make this happen. If you cannot contribute financially, any amount of healing powers sent our way means all the same.
