Bella’s Battle with Osteosarcoma
Donation protected
My niece was a normal active young competitive cheerleader who started complaining of some knee pain, which as a cheer mom you just think to yourself, she pulled a muscle, strained a ligament etc. some rest and she will be okay, but after a few weeks of the pain not going away, my sister took Bella to the ER, to make sure she didn’t injure it more than the normal strain from cheering. They did an xray, then a biopsy & immediately my sister’s world got turned upside down.
My beautiful, sweet, spunky, 10 year old niece Bella was diagnosed with an extremely rare bone cancer, called Osteosarcoma on 12/20/23. There is only about 1000 cases a year & half of those are in children. The mass is in her femur by her knee, in the growth plate, which keeps her from putting pressure on her leg, she is using a walker because she’s not allowed to use that knee, it could easily break, this known to happen with this cancer. Bella had her port put in on 12/22/23 & began her 10 month treatment of chemotherapy that same day. The doctors didn’t want to wait on starting her treatment, due to this being an aggressive cancer. She will continue chemo treatments for 3-4 months & then Bella will have surgery, after her surgery she will have additional scans & then continue her chemo treatments for a total of 10 months.
My sister had to suddenly quit her full time job to care for Bella. There will be lots of trips to doctors & specialists over the next year & possibly even longer. I am setting this GoFundMe page up to help her & her family with any medical expenses, food, hotel stays, gas, and bills they will need help with during this difficult time in their lives.
Please pray for them & all the doctors, involved in her care & treatments. I’m loss for words, our hearts are broken & we need all the prayers & support for them that we can get. This is going to be a long emotional road for them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the continued prayers, messages, calls & care packages for Bella & her family!
