As most of our friends and family know, our cats are our children and we would do anything for them. Our sweet Bella is very sick at CanWest Emergency Vet. She gradually fell ill over the last few weeks and stopped eating for the last 3 days. She also showed signs of discomfort and nausea. We brought her in to the Emergency Vet on Friday and she remains there under constant surveillance. They did and ultrasound and xray and noted fluid around her heart and in her abdominal cavity. One mass was seen on or around her pancreas and nodule on her lung and one on her bladder. They were able to get a sample of the fluid in her abdomen. We were told that this all pointed to a reoccurance of her cancer.

Today we got the results of the fluid and it showed NO cancer cells but it did show a Fungus, Cryptocaucus. None of the vets have seen such a wide spread infection from this fungus. We still don't know where she got this from as she is an indoor cat.

She is very very sick but of course Matt and I will never give up on her. Its a risky treatment of anti fungal medicine for 9 months. For her in particular with her stage 3 kidney disease and her new found Heart Murmur/Gallup sounds. This could be very dangerous and requires special care. She is a fighter and we intend to do whats best for her.

The Emergency Vet said without this treatment she will die....with the treatment she has a 40-50% survival rate. They also have not ruled out Cancer until they biopsy her next week.

We've never asked for any help in the past but this treatment may be beyond what we can afford, what a devastating position to be in .
