Bella's Life XOXO
Donation protected
I have known Bella since she was born, she's a loving, intelligent, funny and outgoing 6 year old. She is strong like her mother, Jesica, who I have known since we were kids ourselves. I am an only child but I grew up with this family; and right now Bella and her family need help. Jesica, who I consider my sister, loves her kids more than anything in this world. She spends all of her time with them- they are truly everything to her.
Bella's last go fund me was sadly shut down due to issues of the funds being disbursed to Jesica. This left Bella's mother falling behind even further and created more financial stress in an already overwhelming situation. It took time away from other priorities Jesica had in order to get it handled. It has since been taken care of, but a new go fund me needs to be created for Bella. I am creating and managing this go fund me so Jesica can focus on Bella and her other children. We communicate or see eachother almost daily so I can accuratley update this page.
Bella was diagnosed with DIPG. This is a diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma. Surgery is not possible because the tumor is infused in the central nervous system of her brain stem. Bella's cancer is an aggressive stage 4 and is terminal. Bella is going through radiation, as it was the first step in maintaining further growth and symptoms. After radiation there are many clinical trials we have been looking into. However there are also many that wouldn't have an affect on her tumor due to Bella's specific DNA profile, which we recieved from her biopsy. There are many other hurdles as dates from radiation not aliging to when she could be accepted into a certain trial, trial eligibilities, trials being discontinued or certain trials not being available in Colorado. We have been looking into further genetic testing to create a dietary/supplement plan for Bella's specific biology. We have also been looking into PEMF and red light therapy which has some supportive data in aiding tumor shrinkage but not enough to have these covered by insurance. These treatments are expensive. These are all things we have been tirelssly working on, to help as much as possible. To date there is no cure for DIPG and the median survival is less than a year. This specific cancer has been researched for over 60 years- one of the biggest complications is that each tumor has specific DNA/RNA mutations which makes a one size fits all treatment plan impossible. If you are fortunate enough to find a trial that works for your specific genetic profile, the cancer adapts and learns to fight the medicine; so eventually the medicine stops working, in the mean time allowing the tumor to develop new mutations. This is a deadly disadvantageous disease that the best nuero oncologists, who come together often, from all over the world to meet in consortias, still can not figure out.
We are raising funds so Bella's mother can focus on what time she has left with Bella, Bella's sister, and Bella's two brothers; so they can focus on just being together as the family they are, while also spending time with other family members. The time spent should be focused on creating memories and making Bella's life as wonderful as possible. Bella's mother also needs to be able to focus on caring for Bella medically. She spends a lot of her time administering medications multiple times a day, whether through her picc line, orally and topically; just to keep Bella emotionally and physically comfortable. She spends countless hours and sleepless nights researching anything she can find, when Bella is sleeping. Jesica is by Bella's side 24/7. We are also raising funds for out of state trials and the costs that will come with that. As of now, Stanford in California is looking to be the most promising to give Bella more time; after that could be Michigan or Ohio. The trials and locations of the trials will change as Bella's cancer changes. Jesica wants her kids to be together as much as possible for the time they have left with their sister. She would like them to be able to travel together, for wherever they end up, as Colorado does not have a trial fit for Bella. Traveling with 4 kids will be costly but we all feel it's best they all get the most time they can with Bella- as again they are all very close and we do not want Bella to feel alone in this. While this situation is heartbreaking for everyone whose ever known and loved Bella, it is devastating beyond comprehension for Bella, her mother and her siblings.
The trials do not offer a cure, but instead hopefully more time, while keeping her quality of life in mind as well. Only 10% of children have survived two years and only 1% 5. We want to correct that Bella was put in a wheelchair not because of her time spent in the hospital but because the tumor affected her balance, mobility, coordination, visual perception and she now gets tired very easily. We also felt the need to correct, in no way shape or form has Jesica ever felt emotionally or mentally better about this or had a good night's sleep since March 1st.
I can not reiterate enough, this is an extremely close and loving family and a gut-wrenching diagnosis that deeply affects all of them daily. There's a million words we could use to describe how awfully shattering this is, but none of them could accurately portray the feeling of loosing your child or sibling in such a slow and crippling way. Please continue to donate to allow her family to give her the best quality of life possible, and more time. We also ask for anyone who prays, send all the loving, hopeful prayers as often as possible. We continue to pray for her miracle everyday. ❤️
