Bella's Last Wish: A Quinceañera to See

Hi, our names are Marina Gonzales & Nicolas Garcia. We are trying to raise money to give our daughter the quinceañera of her dreams.

If you know us and our family, especially our daughters, you know the journey they have been through and the journey they are going through, especially my oldest. Just in case, here’s a little back story…

She was born with an eye condition of coloboma and nystagmus. When she was diagnosed, we were told her vision could be stable or it could get worse, and she could lose it completely. We were not expecting it so soon and so suddenly.

Between the age of 8 & 9, over a span of 5 months, she lost her left eye. She was stable at 20/150 in her right eye for a long time, till this year 2025. We have had the unfortunate happen, and our Angelina “Bella” only has a very tiny bit of vision remaining…

In January of this year 2025, her vision decreased to 20/200 (a new eye prescription did not improve any of it). My heart sank, and I was devastated because deep down I knew what was happening since it had already happened in the other eye. However, what happened next was even more shocking and more devastating because this time it didn’t take 5 months; it took WEEKS. By February 22, 2025, she was 20/400. Two days later, on February 24, 2025, she returned to see the eye doctor again and was down to counting fingers at 6 ft. Three weeks later, in March 2025, she was stable at counting fingers 6ft. Come April 15, 2025 she’s counting fingers 3ft. She had an appointment July 16, 2025 and she is counting fingers 2ft. 

Although she stayed positive, stayed hopeful, and her faith is still strong, she made it a point to tell us that all she wanted was to be able to see her quinceañera. She didn’t care what happened to her vision after that. She has seen so many beautiful quinceañeras, and all she wants is to see her own and see herself all glammed up and in her dress on her special day. We got approval from our priest that we can do her quinceañera a year early (next year 2026). Her birthday is February 28th.

We cannot save what vision she has left; we cannot give her back the vision she has already lost. All we can do is make the best of what she has and for as long as she has it and give her the only thing she wants and is asking for… To see her quinceañera!!

God willing, she will still have vision come her big day. We are shooting for February 28, 2026, the day of her birthday.
