Hello , my name is Adriana , mother to a beautiful little girl name Isabella . First of all Thank you all for sharing this with family & friends. I am here to tell you a little bit more about isabella on how she got diagnosed with type ( B cell , ALL - Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia)
What is type ( ALL ) Leukemia is a cancer of the blood. Leukemia begins when healthy blood cells change and grow uncontrollably. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a cancer of the lymphocytes, which are a type of white blood cell involved in the body’s immune system. When a child has ALL, the lymphoblasts fill the bone marrow and crowd out other normal cells, preventing the production of red blood cells, many other types of normal white blood cells, and platelets. If the bone marrow is not functioning correctly, the child may experience anemia, easy bruising, bleeding, or infection.
How did i find out about bellas diagnosis?
Well , My little isabella is a sweet , funny , caring , loving girl with a little extra chromosome she was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth aswell so this little girl has some extra love for everyone that gets her way ! This girl is very active . Always running up & down with her big sister & aunties at home . Never a quiet moment i say !
Isabella started acting NOT quite herself lately. 3 weeks before her diagnosis, she started getting different kinds of infections , she had off & on fevers , chills & everything she did seem to bother her . I took her to her pediatrician on the first 2 weeks , they did a Strep throught test & it came out negative , they also did a COVID-19 test & also came out negative . No blood test what so ever , they only said she had some type of “virus” & to bring her back the week after . That week passed & the medicine they gave her didn’t seem to help much . She was still having fevers at night , nigh sweats , her color wasn’t so bright and pink , she was getting very pale now . The weekend came & her & sister left with their dad . i called him & he said she wasnt acting herself , she was laying in bed all day , not eating as much & i just thought something is wrong with my baby ! I was off Monday , he dropped them off sunday night . she came limping on her left leg , was very pale , her lips were not as pinkish anymore but more purplelish , she was a little hot & i just decided to take her a nice shower & put her to sleep . she was breathing just fine so thats why i didnt think taking her to the ER would help . i just thought maybe shes tired or she’s probably not feeling herself . Let me say this girl LOVES FOOD , so for her not to eat as how she was eating worried me so much . She was not running anymore , was not playing like she used to , all she wanted to do was sleep & lay in bed . I noticed it right away , way before her dad took her that weekend but didnt paid much attention because who would think you’re healthy looking baby is having all this happen to her . Isabella woke up with a high fever & i just decided to take her to Children’s hospital . They did x-rays to see if she had any deslocating bones or anything out of normal but she didn’t. Her bones looked fine . They then got blood out to make sure everything was okay like usual , but came back withing 2 hours after & said she was at high risk for blood cancer ( Leukemia) When they said high risk “ my heart dropped “ i called her dad immediately, called my mother because i wasnt sure if i was dreaming or what . i went speecheless for a min .. Just trying to figure out how , when , why ? You know everything , Well they came back & said she had to stay & get admitted so they could take a closer look at her . She then got diagnosed with type ALL Leukemia Sep 14-2020 . From that day our lives changed drastically. I now had to decide what to do for my oldest child since they both were living with me . I told their dad to take my oldest to live with him until we figure something out . I went from working , providing food & everything else for them too quiting my job , my only job i had . I didnt want to leave my baby alone . i just didnt think it was okay , i completely forgot about my life & we are just here fighting for her little life now I just know i have to be strong for her & for my other babygirl. Its been a month now , shes been on isolation because she also tested positive for COVID . Hopefully she gets to be off isolation soon . Her liver & kidneys look perfect doe , so thats not something to worry about . She has had 3 blood transfusions & 2 platelets as well . She has gotten 3 chemotherapy’s now & has done good Doctors & nurses have been so helpful. We are just here paitiently waiting on when the Doctors can say we can go home . This is why i am here , to ask anyone who can help , anything will be gladly appriciated ! We both have a long journey ahead of us & the donations will help with future expenses.
