Bella’s Best Chance For A Future

Donation protected
Many of you know our journey. Bella experienced significant trauma and neglect prior to being removed from the situation at age 3. She was in a loving home with our now dear friend and then we met Bella and Jeremiah when she was 5. Over the last almost 5 years, we have learned so much about trauma, the brain, the importance of what happens in the womb and the first few years of life. We’ve learned about Intellectual Disability, Oppositional Defiance Disorder and Reactive Attachment Disorder. We’ve learned how little support there is. We’ve learned how broken the system is. We’ve learned that in order to get an answer you might have to make 20 phone calls. We’ve had people fighting with us and for us.

Finally….one of those phone calls led us to what we believe might be one of the only ways Bella will have a successful future. We were introduced to Youth Of Vision Academy in Jamaica.

YOVA is a private boarding school specializing in transforming kids like Bella into productive, accountable, responsible young adults. The plan is a 2 year plan that could go longer or be shorter depending on how Bella progresses. It’s not an inexpensive program although about 1/2 of what anything similar in the US would cost. One thing that really sets YOVA apart is their commitment to faith. Bella will learn to walk in her relationship with Jesus at YOVA, one of the most important components of her healing. Some other really unique and powerful characteristics of the YOVA program are a 2:1 ratio and a focus only on attachment disorders. This is a very special and specialized place.

Many of you generously gave to support Finley, the service dog being trained for Bella. The trainers graciously agreed to refund our money and we have received permission from all of you to put it towards school. Thank you.

We also found out that a grant Bella received, Katie Beckett, will be able to be applied towards school! This is huge!

The monthly tuition is $3,050 USD. Many of you have asked how you can continue to donate to support us and Bella. We are overwhelmed.

We can’t wait to give updates of her progress. When we left Jamaica on 6/11/23, we hear she was adjusting well.

Thank you for being a part of Bella’s Team. We are eternally grateful.
