Hi, I’m asking for help for my beautiful dog Bella.

Bella turned 9 yesterday

She spent the first 3 years of her life as a street dog in Hungary, surviving on her own. She was then rescued from a kill shelter by an incredible charity called Hungary Hearts, who gave her the chance at a safe life. Five years ago, she came home with me and has been my constant companion ever since.

Two weeks ago, I discovered a large lump on her neck. Because she has such thick fur, it wasn’t visible or noticeable until recently. After veterinary assessment, she has been diagnosed with a significant thyroid mass. The vet is now recommending further investigation and possible surgery, depending on what they find.

Bella is still herself right now, she is eating, playful, and full of life. which makes this even harder to process.

The total cost of diagnosis and treatment could be as high as £6,500.

My pet insurance only covers:

* Up to £500 towards the CT scan (which alone is typically around £2,000+)

* Up to £3,000 towards surgery (which can range from £3,000–£6,000)

On top of this, there are additional costs for:

* blood tests

* specialist consultations

* medication and aftercare (chemotherapy & radiation).

One of the most difficult parts is that even going ahead with surgery, insurance cover for the operation cannot be confirmed until after the procedure. This is because final costs and coverage depend on what is found during surgery and whether there are complications. As the mass is fixed to her thyroid, there is also a concern that it may already have spread to other areas, which could affect both treatment and prognosis.

Even with insurance, I am facing a significant shortfall I simply cannot manage alone right now.

I am trying everything I can to give Bella the chance of treatment and any donation, no matter how small, would go directly towards her veterinary care and recovery.

If you can’t donate, sharing Bella’s story would mean just as much.
