Dear family, friends, peers, and supporters, I would first like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my training in Kung Fu: First and foremost, Grandmaster Wong, thank you for establishing the Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy four decades ago (Happy 40th Anniversary!) Thank you for every moment of training that you have invested in me, and for continuously inspiring the thousands of students who train under you. My utmost admiration and respect is to you. Thank you. Sifu Mike, thank you for your exceptional efforts in training me these past 8 years, and for prompting me to leap out of my comfort zone to compete, perform, teach, and serve as a role model for One Tribe's students. Thank you for trusting and building my abilities to earn and achieve these things—it's a true privilege of mine. Master Barbosa, thank you for encouraging confidence in me not only during training but also in my daily life. Thank you for spreading your golden enthusiasm and wise insight, and for building my confidence to perform with the spirit that compliments our style of Kung Fu. Sifu Luke, thank you for passing down to me your passion for the application of the traditional Choy Lay Fut techniques and for devoting your effort and time to my peers and me. You are sincerely valued. To the instructors at the Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy—Sifu Brandon and Sifu Felipe, it's been a privilege to train under you both throughout the years. Thank you. Master Chow, thank you for your willingness to take the time to work with me for this event as well as previous ones. Your resolute devotion to sharing your knowledge of Kung Fu is truly inspiring and I hold that with the deepest value. My peers, and those whom I have formed close friendships with, thank you for your kindness and your support throughout these years. I cherish you all. Lastly, the greatest thank you to my parents. Some may know that I began training in Kung Fu as a three-and-a-half-year-old and all of the appreciation goes to my parents for signing me up at that young age and encouraging me to continue this discipline throughout my life. I have devoted hours per day, per week, throughout the past fourteen years since I began my training, and have earned the honor of participating in countless performances and tournaments. My wish now is to take my training as far as I can take it, and the next step for me is to compete in the International Chinese Martial Arts Championship. Never before have I traveled nationally to compete, so the upcoming ICMAC event from June 30th-July 2nd will be my first. I plan on competing in the Grand Champion division, which states that I will perform four separate forms, and have the opportunity to compete for Overall Grand Champion if I qualify with three first-place scores. Along with that, I will be competing in the Continuous Sparring division. With that said, there are a lot of expenses, such as travel, training, and equipment costs and I am humbly asking for your support in this endeavor. I am confident that I will perform my best and will continue striving to improve my proficiency in understanding the mental and physical aspects of Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu. Any amount that you can contribute is genuinely appreciated! In addition, I will be performing on Saturday, June 24th at 4 pm at the One Tribe Martial Arts Academy in Concord, CA as a symbol of my gratitude to all of my supporters. Thank you all, again, for your time. Sincerely, Belize-Sophia
