If you have children and dont have life insurance, a funeral care plan or savings in excess of £10,000 please heed the lesson in this story because it could so easily be the situation your family finds themselves experiencing.
My bubbly life loving sister, Belinda had a cardiac arrest on wednesday 9th may, was pronounced brain dead on the Friday and her life support was switched off on the Friday. She was only 44 years old and has left behind 5 children, the youngest of which is only 8 years old. Like most of us Belinda didn’t like talking about death and like most of us had made no provisions for her passing. Again like most of us there was no funeral plan and no life insurance. I knew a burial wasn’t going to be cheap but my eyes nearly popped out of my head when I found out the funeral is going to cost anything between £8,000-£10,000.
This is the hard bit for me. Many people have said ‘let me know how I can help’, well the truth is the real help needed is financial. So I’m putting my pride aside and saying, “Anything you can contribute to Belindas funeral costs would be greatly appreciated”.
Whether it’s £5 or £100 anything you can give will be received with thanks. Please don’t Worry if you can’t help out I know you would if you could.
Thanks in advance
Can I also add, if you have children look into getting life insurance or doing a funeral payment plan. You can get one for around £10 a month.
Funerals are not getting any cheaper. Please don’t leave your children wondering how they are going to bury you, please start doing something about it now. Losing a parent is hard enough you don’t want to leave your kids struggling when it comes to laying you to rest.
