Belinda’s Journey to Life-Changing Surgeries
$735 raised of
Hello, my name is Belinda Williams and I have to lose 150 lbs to reach my goal weight, but it's mainly because my health is suffering tremendously. I need back surgery, but I have to lose 100 lbs to do that. I also need hip surgery, and that's 35 lbs first before they can do anything. I am partially paralyzed from having brain surgery and then having a stroke, so it's very, very difficult to exercise. Even walking is very tedious these days.
I need to raise $500 to get my weight loss surgery, and that's the first step back to losing a whole person—that's how much weight I need to lose. It's enough to be a whole person. I am in a lot of pain. I have herniated discs and bulging discs that are pinching nerves running down both legs. My hip needs to be replaced on my right side, which is the paralyzed side, but it's hypersensitive, so I deal with a lot of pain. I have fibromyalgia, degenerative disease, and arthritis, just to name a few.
I am divorced after having gone through domestic violence. I have been paralyzed now for almost 20 years, and my weight has doubled. It's very hard to breathe also because I have asthma along with everything else. I am alone, trying to make it on a fixed income. By the time I pay for rent, food, and utilities, I have very little money left over to save. I have done all the pre-testing for my weight loss surgery, and those results are good for 6 months. It's already been about 6 weeks, so I'm feeling pressured to get my surgery before the months are up because I would have to do it all over again. It included cardiac clearance and the scope of my GI tract to make sure there are no surprises. I have a hiatal hernia, but they said they can repair that when they go in to do the surgery for weight loss.
Thank you in advance for listening to my story, and if you can help in any way, I would be so indebted to you. These are all life-changing surgeries, and I need to have three different surgeries and lose 150 lbs before they can do the hardware in my back. If I don't lose the weight, then the hardware—the nuts, bolts, and screws—will work itself loose and come apart, so I can't have any extra weight on me after the fact. It's a long road, but it is so worth everything that I have to go through. I just ask that you keep me in your prayers if that would be possible. I would greatly appreciate it. I am extended how much I needed because I had didn't figure in my sister having to stay with me out of town and the surgeries out of town and then the fees on here
