Belinda's Farewell

Update: This Fundraiser has changed from surgery and treatment to Memorial and Farewell, seeking an additional $18,000 for these costs, beyond the $13, 290 raised for the surgery and treatment
Greetings Family and Friends. Our last update to you was 8 months ago when Belinda was just starting a new treatment. Sadly we are writing to let you know that Belinda Nyatichi Okemwa rested August 19, 2021. Belinda was diagnosed with a brain tumor on November 1, 2019. She underwent surgery at Agakhan hospital on November 20, 2019 and subsequently underwent various treatment including Chemotherapy until July 2021 when it became apparent that the tumor was regrowing and nothing could be done to reverse it. She was put on painkillers at the hospital until she rested August 19, 2021. We request your prayers and financial support for the funeral costs. Please, with God's blessing, send your financial contributions of any amount.
This fundraising has been changed from the surgery and treatment support to now memorial and farewell support. We raised $13,290 through gofundme for the surgery and treatment. We are using the same gofundme page now for the memorial support. Anything raised over the initial $13,290 that has been donated in the past 2 weeks is memorial support. We are seeking to raise 2m shillings or $18,000 dollars for the memorial and farewell.

Initial Fundraising:
My name is Heather and I am raising money for my sister Belinda. She lives in Nairobi, Kenya. She is 27 years old. She is a middle child and my husband, Benja, is her older brother. She has a younger sister named India. She lives in Kenya with her mother, Teresa, and younger sister. She is the sweetest most kind person. She cares so much about everyone. To see her going through this is truly heartbreaking.
On Sunday morning, Nov 17th 2019, Belinda started convulsing. Her sister, India, took her to the emergency room with the help of some friends. After two CT scans and an MRI it was determined that Belinda has a tumor in her brain that was causing swelling in her frontal lobe and if left untreated would be fatal in days. Wednesday, November 20th they operated and removed a part of the glioma to relieve the swelling and run tests on it to see what type of treatment she needs. She pulled through the surgery just fine and is now recovering in the ICU. We are waiting to hear what type of treatment will be needed for the tumor.
We will keep updating the page as we find out more. We are asking for financial help to cover the costs of her surgery and treatment. We also appreciate your kind words and prayers.
