Believe in the Power of Children this Giving Tuesday!

Episode 1

This summer, the Superniños faced one of the biggest challenges in its history. Donations from Paraguayan sources that previously made up a significant portion of our annual budget struggled to come through due to an unpredictable economy. The devastating news left the team with a tough decision: shut down programs until 2025 or find another way forward.

The management was prepared to deliver the hard news, but what they received instead from staff and parents alike was a resounding no. Shutting down was not an option. Together, they decided there had to be another way to continue the work they believed in so deeply.

They’d have to raise 20.000.000Gs, or over $2500. But how…?

Stay tuned this Giving Tuesday to find out what happened!

Episode 2

Faced with the challenge of raising $2500 quickly, our Superniños mobilized. The team quickly realized their greatest strength was teaching children—this was their mission, their passion, and their gift. They simply needed to do more of it - this time as a fundraiser.

From that determination, English Rockets, a successful English program was expanded, and Jaikuaa ("we know") was born. This series of one-month intensive classes in art, Guaraní, music, guitar, and reading/writing began with just twelve students and has already started transforming lives.

Michelle had minimal background in Guarani and struggled with it in school. As a Kid Teacher, however, Michelle learned the importance of learning Guarani to improve her ability to connect with all kids in her community. No one at Michelle’s school had the patience to teach her. But, thanks to caring teacher Nati, Michelle is now able to write and defend essays or have important conversations, all in Guarani!

Lucas deeply feared trying anything new, but he dreamed of playing the guitar. Thanks to his teacher, Edu, he now practices at home in every spare moment, plays popular songs, and writes his own while singing at the top of his lungs!

Math classes were in high demand because so many children struggled with it in school. Twelve children quickly learned to multiply, divide, and do fractions. Their grades instantly improved, thanks to their dynamic teachers, Jorge and Edu.

The Kid Teachers all said they learned so much about teaching from these experiences, and more and more children are signing up for classes.

But will they reach their goal?

Stay tuned to find out!

Episode 3

Where we last left our heroes, the Superniños were mobilizing to raise $2,500 in a few months. (for scale, the minimum wage is $368/month). Many of the Kid Teachers were dependent on their teaching salaries to stay in school themselves. Their work as Superniños was not just a hobby - it was their livelihood.

While Jaikuaa classes were going strong, other Superkids were working hard, using their own superpowers.

They hosted a basketball tournament, a video game tournament, and two Pizza-thons!

Parents helped by making and selling over 250 plates of delicious food, raising over 6 million Guaranies ($766)!

Aliana, the director of Superniños, connected the team to an office building that was being torn down. Superkids swooped in to auction off everything from doors to floors, shelves to toilets, all to raise more funds!

All of this got a lot of attention from the community, and they got help at every turn, with opportunities to promote their projects on radio and television, and meetings with business owners and government officials to rally support.

But did they reach their goal?!

Yes, they did! They raised $2,515 in total and stayed in business all year! If you did not already believe in the power of children, this is proof that you can!

And if they can do all that, what can you do?

This Giving Tuesday, you can help ensure their work continues. Raising $6000 will develop Jaikuaa classes as a new local funding source, keeping Superniños sustainable and thriving as a beacon of hope for the children and communities it serves.
