It is with a heavy heart that I am creating this account for nothing can ever prepare a mother for the lose of a child. It is a pain that runs deep and almost unbearable. There are no amount of words that could shield the pain of this, I was 6months pregnant On active duty ,when I was made aware of my son’s heart condition, it was on that day that my life would forever change.Unfortunately those Drs had little to no knowledge of little hearts especially when he hadn’t been born yet. It was during my 9th month that an angel came before me and lead me to LLUMC children’s hospital, where I and my son needed to be.it was the first time in 3 months that the drs were hopeful, and that I was able to see him on the ultrasound, Can you imagine how horrible it would feel when the drs didn’t have any hope, we met with many drs prior to his birth so we could have a plan once he was born.there were 2 possible options, one being the Norwood and then pediatric heart transplant, all of this would depend on how his heart was once born ,His heart was to damaged and transplant was the choice I made to save my dying son.Once he was born his health was deteriorating and you can’t be added to the transplant list unless you are stable enough to be able to accept the heart,by the grace of God he stabilized at 10 days old and he got his 1rst heart at 14 days old .through the years he spent a majority of time hospitalized, weather it be a simple (to us not for him )cold ,rejection, there were many ventilator life support medical induced coma .if he was awake he would always be smiling,he had a presence about him that could always brighten up your day.in 2015 graft dysfunction of his heart happened and once again he would be needed another new heart, my heart cried silent tears ,on October 28, 2015 my son recieved his 2nd heart .Was so amazing because the dr who did the surgery showed us the video of his new heart and we could see the heart turn pink and take it’s first beat,14 days old and 14 years old the age he was for both transplant My son Leeroy was a 2 time heart transplant survivor ,my best friend,My hero and my reason to Believe is Miracles,he was 18 years old and for reasons I will never understand,God called him home just 2 days before his 19th birthday.6933 is the amount of days that God had blessed me with him.Leeroy’s story has touched and changed the lives of so many people that hear his story, and my hope is that it will continue to touch lives. My son taught me how to love endlessly with no boundaries how to continue to fight through the darkness because after each storm comes a rainbow ,my son spent a lot of his life hospitalized and that room became our home because home is where the heart is and he is the heart of my family. He lived his life with such strength and courage and always with a smile on his face.”His pretty eyes and great big smile,I wish you were here so we can dance awhile,, . The love we shared a love so true ,Everything I did was out of love for you,You fought so hard and for so long,Without you here everything feels wrong .I’ll truly miss us dancing to Harry Potter dance scene (only a true fan would know)So many things I will miss , “the sound of your heartbeat is one of the most missed sound ,you I will never forget, In my heart is where you will always be I’ll love you forever,I’ll like you for always .as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.” And you say “I’ll love you forever,I’ll like you for always as as I’m living my mommy you’ll be “As our family goes through this time of unimaginable grief we would ask for prayers, privacy and any donations ,all donations are appreciated to lhelp with service expenses ,I know that times are not easy now for any one . Anything will be of help ,Thank you and God Bless love always
