1. Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
That one word sums up the Belgrade 13u All-Star team. Most of these young men have played baseball together in one form or another since the age of 5 and coming together for the first time in 2013 to join the rest of the Belgrade All-stars to form the league’s first 9u team. Little did they know what a ride they would be on over the coming summers. The team has advanced to the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournaments in Eugene OR Kennewick WA, and most recently Meridian ID.
Their 13u All-Star season has been full of ups and downs. Growing, learning and developing further as a team and young men. They’ve fallen short in some tournaments, lost games that should have been won, and at the start of each new week they’ve shown up to practice and gone back to work. They set a goal as team at the beginning of the season: Win a regional tournament.
This season is their first as a Babe Ruth team, no longer Cal Ripken. They’ve heard how it’s a whole new ball game. Bigger fields, longer base paths, further to pitch. It was going to be difficult, it was going to be work.
All of their work paid off with a Championship win in Meridian ID. Their win sends them to the Babe Ruth 13u World Series in Mountain Home Arkansas.
Please consider helping this special group of 14 young men and their families as they travel to the World Series August 10-17 to represent their team, city, state, and region.
Donations may also be sent to Belgrade Youth Baseball, (with the indication they are for the 13u World Series) PO Box 766 Belgrade MT 59714.
