Hello, I'm Belén Polo, on 12/26/2022 I had surgery for a brain tumor.

At that time I was only 16 years old and my parents were told that my operation was high risk, where I would be left with serious consequences, in a vegetative state, or even lose my life.

They could only extract 60% of the tumor

The biopsy indicated that I have a tumor called Glioblastoma grade 4, which is rare in adolescents and the most aggressive of all.

In February I started my chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment in Chile.

They gave me 6 to 9 months to live or a maximum of one year.

my mother cries and begs God to please help her to save my life or at least stop the growth of the tumor, in Chile there was nothing more to do , more than conventional treatment did not give us much hope.

We had to travel here to the United States in May 2023 to Nicklaus Children's Hospital to get into a clinical trial in the hope of heal me.

But after four months of treatment something failed and the tumor became resistant, now in October 2023 I started my chemotherapy and immunotherapy, with lomustine and avastin. hope and trust in God that this will help me.

But it makes me very sad to be away from my family, my father and my sisters.

I don't know when I will return to my country, my home in Chile.

I trust that everything will turn out well, I notice the worry and sadness in my parents even though they try not to show it.

I know that Glioblastoma is a very aggressive tumor.

please who reads my story, I ask for your help, I need your support, both in prayer and financially since my mother cannot work because she is 100% in my care in the hospital or at home.

We need to raise money for pay rent, transportation and food for one year of treatment.

Hola soy Belén Polo, el 26/12/2022 me operaron de un tumor cerebral.

En ese momento yo tenía solo 16 años y a mis padres les dijeron que mi operación era de alto riesgo, donde quedaría con graves consecuencias, en estado vegetativo o incluso perdería la vida.

Sólo pudieron extraer el 60% del tumor

La biopsia indicó que tengo un tumor llamado Glioblastoma grado 4, que es raro en adolescentes y el más agresivo de todos.

En febrero comencé mi tratamiento de quimioterapia y radioterapia en Chile.

Me dieron de 6 a 9 meses de vida o máximo un año.

mi madre llora y le ruega a Dios que por favor la ayude a salvar mi vida o al menos detener el crecimiento del tumor, en Chile no había nada más que hacer, más que el tratamiento convencional no nos daba muchas esperanzas.

Tuvimos que viajar aquí a los Estados Unidos en mayo de 2023 al Nicklaus Children's Hospital para participar en un ensayo clínico con la esperanza de curarme.

Pero después de cuatro meses de tratamiento algo falló y el tumor se volvió resistente, ahora en octubre de 2023 comencé mi quimioterapia e inmunoterapia, con lomustina y avastin. Espero y confío en Dios que esto me ayudará.

Pero me entristece mucho estar lejos de mi familia, de mi padre y de mis hermanas.

No sé cuando regresaré a mi país, a mi hogar en Chile.

Confío en que todo saldrá bien, noto la preocupación y tristeza en mis padres aunque intentan no demostrarlo.

Sé que el glioblastoma es un tumor muy agresivo.

por favor quien lea mi historia, pido su ayuda, necesito su apoyo, tanto en oración como económicamente ya que mi madre no puede trabajar porque está 100% bajo mi cuidado en el hospital o en casa.

Necesitamos recaudar dinero para pagar el alquiler, el transporte y la comida para un año de tratamiento.
