My name is Alison Hastings and I’m a physician in California. If my own family would allow I would head off to Gaza to volunteer but at the moment this is not the case. I have started this fundraiser for a young boy in Gaza. I have never created a GoFundMe before but my heart goes out to Belal and his family. If we can help them even just a little bit we can be part of the good in the world. Even small donations are meaningful. I know people have many of their own life expenses, but if possible please consider donating. Belal was studying to be an Engineer but his University was destroyed, along with ALL Universities in Gaza. Ultimately he dreams of completing his studies but right now he is just trying to help his family survive. He has 5 younger brothers. Their home was completely demolished and they lost the majority of their belongings. They live in tents but need funds to purchase additional tents and basic supplies. He’s a good kid, he has a strong faith in God and is trying to stay hopeful. He just wants to live, to rebuild his life and someday go back to school. I’m able to get money to him via Western Union in Jordan and a service in Rafah. The Palestinian people have been oppressed and suffering for decades. They have no airport and their ability to go in or out of Gaza has been restricted long before Oct 7th. Western Media has not given a true account of what they have endured since 1948. They just want to have basic human rights and freedom. Yes there are some periods of time that have been better but they have never been truly free. Even small contributions will make a difference. In a world with so much darkness I take comfort in doing what I can even if it seems small compared to the size of the problems. I also take comfort knowing there are good people that truly care about humanity. If we pause and touch the humanness of others and ourselves, silence isn’t possible. We are one. Link to Belal
