Bekah Kraut Transplant Fund

Donation protected
In April of 2021, Sarah Kraut was given a kidney!!! We are overwhelmed with the support we received from friends, family, and good samaritans that helped sponsor the Krauts households bills while Sarah was recovering (she still is!) from her surgery. Now, we are asking you all to step up once more to help Sarah’s 26 year old sister, Bekah - who is suffering from the same disease that took her little sister's kidneys.

Bekah Kraut was diagnosed with Alport Syndrome and has been on daily dialysis since she was twenty-one years old.

Alport Syndrome is a rare genetic kidney disease that causes kidney failure, with symptoms including hematuria, proteinuria, hypertension, and edema.
Bekah’s father died from complications arising from being on dialysis for too long when she was a young child, and years after he died, she and two of her siblings (Sarah and Josh) were diagnosed with the same disease. Living with this disease, and putting your body through countless hours of dialysis a day is exhausting and overwhelming, and a poor quality of life.

Bekah and Josh (Sarah has a new kidney now - praise God!) go through a strenuous 8 to 10.5 hour peritoneal home dialysis process every night to flush toxins out of their bodies. The only treatment and best chance for recovery from Alport Syndrome is a kidney transplant.

But - we have good news... Bekah is undergoing a kidney transplant surgery on June 24th!

This is a major surgery and her recovery is very very strict. She won’t be able to work for up to 2 months, and Mrs. Kraut will be Bekah’s designated caregiver post transplant. Bekah needs to have a full time caregiver in order to receive clearance for the transplant. This assures the transplant committee that Bekah will be more than able to follow all post transplant procedures needed to see a successful transplant. Bekah, her sister, and her mom all equally contribute to all of their household bills.

We are trying to raise 9,000 dollars in order to cover two months of household bills for the Kraut family. By doing so, this will allow Bekah to heal properly, without the stress of knowing that she cannot work to pay her bills. This will also allow her mom  to provide her full and undivided attention that is necessary to give Bekah during her post surgery healing process, and it will allow Sarah to continue recovering from her own kidney transplant surgery.

Bekah is like a sister to me. As many of you know, her sister Sarah is one of my best friends, and the Krauts have become another family to me. I also am attached to them at the hip, because I donated my kidney in May 2021 through a cross matching process so that Sarah could receive her new one! If you love and want to support me - you can do that by supporting my other family, the Krauts. Bekah, Sarah, and Amy are three of the most amazing and strong women I have ever met - and they are more than deserving of life, love and a second chance at health. This money will truly alleviate so much stress, pain, and financial disarray from their lives. This transplant surgery should be a life changing blessing for the Krauts- not another financial burden or medical bill that they have to carry.

Thank you so much for reading, and if you donate to this cause the Krauts and I will be forever thankful and overjoyed!
