A Syrian family that is near and dear to my heart fled the war in Syria years ago hoping to find safety and build a new life in Beirut. Years later, they feel like the war has followed them. Facing one challenge after another in a pandemic that has destroyed an already crumpling Lebanese economy, the recent explosion in Beirut has left these parents and their three young boys in desperate need of our help.
About a month ago, Dad lost his job after his boss was unable to pay him for his past several months of work. After finding another, less paying job, the family's luck continued to run out as his new job was only one mile away from the massive explosion. Dad was luckier than his co-workers and fortunately only suffered minor injuries, including temporally losing his hearing.
Sadly, his eight year old son, who is already hard of hearing, still has not recovered his hearing. The pressure of the explosion destroyed the little boy's hearing aids and he has not been able to hear since. Replacing them will cost between $1,200 and $3,000, an amount of money far beyond the family's means.
We know that crime and looting is escalating in Beirut after the explosion, and this family has fell victim the crime as well. Days after the explosion, when Dad was downtown volunteering to dig for survivors in the rubble, his motorbike was stolen. Although he has a video of the theft, the police have said there is nothing they can do. This motorbike was the family's last line to making ends meet, as it is how Dad traveled to work.
Please pitch in what you can to help an adorable little boy hear again, and make sure Dad can get to work to provide for Mom and the boys. Big amounts or small, we appreciate your love. <3
I am in regular contact with this family via WhatsApp and will transfer the money raised to them in Beirut from my Western Union account.
