No one is prepared to hear the words “you have cancer,” especially in your 30s.

Our beloved Sarah is now undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and our family wants to rally around her and my brother as they walk through this incredibly difficult season.

My name is Kristen, and Sarah is my sister-in-law.

Recently, Sarah shared some of this journey in her own words:

“Very recently I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Nothing really prepares you to hear those words… I have gone through many scans and tests and we are still in the waiting stage before treatment, surgery, etc. We have seen God’s goodness already with some positive scans coming back.”

Since sharing this update, Sarah has begun treatment and is courageously stepping into the fight ahead. This season brings countless appointments, treatments, and the emotional weight that cancer carries for their whole family.

If you know Sarah, you know how deeply she cares for people. She shows up, loves generously, and has impacted so many lives near and far.

Now it’s our turn to show up for her.

They say it takes a village, and this is our opportunity to be their village.

Because Sarah is unable to work during treatment, their family is facing a significant loss of income at the same time medical and misc. expenses continue to grow. The average patient and their loved ones incur about $33,000 in expenses, and the financial impact is heaviest in the first 12 months after diagnosis. The financial strain that often comes with cancer can add an additional layer of stress to an already difficult journey.

While this diagnosis will already ask so much of Sarah physically and emotionally, our hope is that it does not leave a lasting financial burden on their family.

The funds raised will help support Sarah and family with:

• Lost income while she focuses on treatment and recovery

• Medications and treatment-related costs

• Unexpected medical & misc. expenses

• Cleaning costs

• Additional childcare costs

• Small comforts that help bring dignity and care during treatment
