Hello , my name is Vandia Williams and I am a rising sophomore at Hartwick College, New York. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, on a Pre-Physical Therapy track and my minor is Public Health Education. Education is extremely important to me and I therefore work extremely hard to maximize every opportunity given to me. As a result, I have maintained my position on the Deans list at Hartwick, I have received the most outstanding first year student award in biology, I was recognized for the Philip S. Wilder award which acknowledges one for academic distinction and presently I serve as the Women's Basketball team manager.
In high school, I also enjoyed several achievements. For example, I was named most outstanding female athlete (Hurricane Award), and had the Judy Maura service award conferred upon me. As a member of the Debate Club, I even secured the position of most outstanding speaker.
I work hard because I have seen the struggles of my parents as they care for my siblings and I. They have never been to University. Therefore, I want to see them enjoy an easier life as they grow older. I have a 13 year old brother that has Prader Willi Syndrome. It is a fact, that daily impacts my family.
In order to return to school this semester, (August I2) I need to satisfy the debt stated previously. Thereafter, I have to secure $14, 187 for the new school year. I work four jobs on campus to assist in reducing my fees. I was fortunate to receive a position as an RA for the upcoming school year. This has markedly reduced cost.
To be sure, any assistance will be greatly appreciated as It reduces the daily fear that one day the accounts office will ask me to leave the campus because of unmet financial obligations. Or, your support may allow me the privilege of working one or two less jobs, so that I can focus even more on my studies. Most importantly, if you help me, you will have indirectly helped my mother and father who are doing their very best to support my dreams. I thank you for any assistance that you can give.
