This NGO was not chosen by us alone.

The Behind the Mask community voted to support Coral Catch , because their work goes beyond restoring coral reefs - it restores hope, opportunity, and ownership within local communities.

Coral Catch combines hands-on reef restoration with something just as powerful: training and empowering young women from Indonesian (coastal) communities. By giving them skills, knowledge and leadership opportunities, Coral Catch helps create a new generation of ocean stewards who can protect their reefs long after any project ends.

For us, this is essential. Saving coral reefs is not only about science, it’s about people. When young women are empowered, entire communities become stronger, more resilient, and more connected to the ocean they depend on.

By telling Coral Catch’s story, we are documenting conservation work and we are helping amplify voices that deserve to be heard - showing how reef protection and social empowerment must go hand in hand to create real, lasting change.

They protect coastlines, feed millions of people and are home to one of the most diverse ecosystems on Earth. Yet climate change, warming oceans and human impact are pushing reefs to the brink of collapse.
