Before My Time

My family and I are campaigning on behalf of my Big Brother Joe Maddera. Joe is a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather of 17, Uncle and Best Friend to many. 6 weeks ago Joe was experiencing a terrible back ache, so he decided to seek help from a chiropractor and when the chiropractor manipulated his back he broke two of Joe’s ribs, causing Joe even more excruciating pain. Days later Joe ended up going to the ER due to the excruciating pain and he was admitted on May 9, 2017. Sadly from there, my brother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer which is the most aggressive form of Lung cancer
The doctor informed our family that he didn’t think Joe had this disease 3 months ago, but when it decided to make its appearance, it did it with a vengeance. Our family was informed in such a short time the cancer metastasized from his Lungs to his liver and into his bones and we was told there is no treatment and the best treatment was to send him home on Hospice to be made comfortable for the remainder of the days or weeks that he has left. Upon this news my brother proposed to the love of his life, Kim and they got married 2 weeks ago and now Kim will be widowed in such a short time. This is so devastating and unfair. Normally newlyweds get the opportunity to plan for their future and have a future. Most married couples have the opportunity to have health insurance and life insurance, well this is not the case with Joe and Kim.
Since Joe was released from the hospital, my sister in-law and my best friend Kim has been tenderly caring for my Big Brother Joe and she has been by his side every waking second, minute, morning, noon and night to ensure he is comfortable and not experiencing any pain.
You know one of the hardest parts of watching my Big Brother fight this horrible disease, is that he has the Will to live, and his strong beating heart keeps him going, but Our Father in Heaven has a different plan for him and there is no way to change that.
I am praying and asking with all of the love in my heart that all of our family and friends to contribute and share our campaign on behalf of Kim and Joe Maddera. We can help ease the financial burden from hospital and funeral expenses that will be coming soon that this cruel disease has bestowed upon our family, but we can’t take away the excruciating pain Joe is going through or mend our broken hearts.
